[ARCHIVED] City to consider contract for demolition and cleanup of Majestic Hotel yellow brick section

A called meeting of the Hot Springs Board of Directors will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 12 in the Board Chambers at City Hall, 133 Convention Boulevard, to consider a contract with Spirtas Wrecking Company of St. Louis, Missouri for abatement and demolition services of the Majestic Hotel yellow brick section for $288,884.

On November 18, 2015, the city released a Request for Proposals for the demolition and cleanup of the Majestic Hotel yellow brick section. The RFP was advertised across several news outlets and sent out to prospective bidders through the city website. Approximately 30 prospective bidders attended a mandatory pre-bid and on-site meeting on December 9, 2015.

The deadline to receive proposals was January 4, 2016. City staff completed a rating process on the seven proposals received for the project. Spirtas Wrecking Company submitted the highest rated proposal.

Spirtas Wrecking Company has been headquartered in St Louis, Missouri since 1954. The company has performed over 10,000 projects with extensive experience in heavy industrial, institutional and commercial projects across the country. The company owns and maintains a fleet of equipment including cranes, excavators, loaders, specialty tool attachments and other machinery to support a broad variety of environmental, abatement, dismantling and demolition tasks.
