Hot Springs Animal Services recently received confirmation of a positive rabies test on a bat submitted to the state health laboratory. The bat was collected last Monday from the 100 block of Cash Street. Attempts are being made to contact the owner of the property from where the bat was removed to inquire about any possible additional exposures to the bat.
The case brings the 2015 Garland County confirmed rabid animal count to five. Pet owners are reminded to vaccinate all dogs and cats at least four months old against rabies. To report any unusual daytime activity by nocturnal creatures such as skunks or bats, contact Animal Services at 262-2091.
