The Hot Springs Rain Garden Cooperative, a series of project sites located along the Hot Springs Creek Greenway Trail, is currently featured on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 website as an outstanding example of green infrastructure.
The Greenway’s rain gardens add function as well as beauty to the trail, capturing runoff and providing an example to the rest of the community of natural resource conservation and low impact development. The Valley Street Skatepark, a member of the city park system, benefits from the adjacent rain garden that helps keep its skating surface dry and ready for play. Combined with the other two rain garden locations, the Greenway now contains 8,300 square feet of green infrastructure.
