HOT SPRINGS – Hot Springs Municipal Utilities customers are asked to implement voluntary water conservation measures over the next few days until the weather front has passed.
Extended periods of heavy rain can stir up sedimentation in the river and lake. The resulting turbidity at the Ouachita Treatment Plant intake site can make it difficult to filter the raw water for the treatment process. Collective voluntary water conservation efforts can help minimize the impact on the city’s water system during extreme weather events.
Water customers can help by taking voluntary measures such as limiting shower length, postponing washing clothes, and identifying and repairing leaks in faucets and toilets. Private and commercial customers with irrigation timers can check to be sure the timers are off during rainy periods.
