HOT SPRINGS – City-produced compost is temporarily unavailable, due to delays caused by recent construction improvements at the city’s compost facility. A new supply is projected to be available for public use by August 1. In the meantime, leaf and wood mulch is still available.
Compost, which is available free of charge to those who load it themselves, is produced according to federal environmental standards from recycled limbs and brush along with dewatered biosolids from the city’s wastewater facility. Personnel at the compost site, located at the end of Davidson Drive off of Shady Grove Road, are available to load compost on request for a fee. Loading tickets may be purchased at the facility on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, call 262-3572 or visit the Compost page under Utilities at www.cityhs.net .
