[ARCHIVED] City burn ban lifted

The Hot Springs Fire Department lifted the citywide burn ban, which went into effect on July 28 due to dry conditions, and began issuing burn permits today, Monday, Aug. 2, 2021.

Hot Springs residents can obtain burn permits at the Central Fire Station, 310 Broadway, and the Lakeshore Fire Station, 220 Lakeshore Drive.

The residential burn permit is free, and may only be used as per the conditions on the permit. The permit must be obtained by the owner/occupant of the residential property where the burn will take place. Proof of ownership or occupancy must be verified by driver’s license or recent utility bill statement. The commercial or second-party persons permit is $25, and may only be used as per the conditions on the permit. To obtain the permit, the individual must go to the Fire Marshal’s Office at the Central Fire Station, 310 Broadway. In some instances, the fire marshal may need to visually inspect the site or materials to be burned before issuing a permit.

Residential burn permits can be obtained any day of the week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Commercial burn permits can be obtained Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
