The newly finished Hot Springs 3-million gallon Water Tank located behind the Cornerstone Marketplace is in the running for the ‘2020 Tnemec Tank of the Year’ contest. Currently, the tank is in the top five for the “Tank of the Year” and ranked first for the “People’s Choice.” Residents are encouraged to vote on their favorite water tank from Monday, Oct. 5, through Friday, Oct. 16.
This contest started in 2006 as a way for Tnemec “to celebrate the innovative and creative uses of its coatings on water tanks. Each year, tanks of all varieties from across the nation and Canada have been narrowed down to determine the one true Tank of the Year.”
The winner for the “People’s Choice” and “Tank of the Year” will be announced on Monday, Oct. 19 and Friday, Oct. 23. The winner and eleven runner-ups will be featured in the Tnemec’s annual water tank calendar. The tank with the most votes during the polling period will be awarded as honorary People’s Choice.
The mural on the new Water Tank was designed by local artist, Ryan Rooney. The design was traced at night and painted during the day. When painting the mural, CB&I needed enough Tnemec Hydroflon solution to cover 30,500 square feet of surface, which consisted of 863 gallons of paint for 18 different colors.
Tnemec products do more than just have aesthetic beauty, they also protect all aspects of the water tank including corrosion- and chemical-resistance, enduring performance and aesthetic enhancement.
