The City of Hot Springs Compost Facility is temporarily waiving the loading fee for compost, leaf mulch, wood grinding and “oversize” materials so the facility can make space for winter materials.
This offer continues through the month of September, or while supplies last, and is for an unlimited amount of these materials. The loading fees usually start at $10 per yard for the first four yards, increasing to $15 per yard for five or more yards.
Compost is a mixture of wood chips and dehydrated bio-solids from the City’s wastewater facility. Leaf mulch can be used as an organic mulch to cover top soil. Wood grindings are the raw wood pieces produced from grinded trees, which normally contains larger pieces of wood, and is generally blonde in color. It can be used as ground cover to prevent weed growth and to hold moisture. “Oversize” refers to the larger materials left over from the compost screening process. It contains smaller pieces of wood mixed with some remaining compost, and can be used as a cover material or can be mixed with soil for planting purposes.
For more information, call the City of Hot Springs Compost Facility, 318 Davidson Drive, at 501-262-3572. Loading is available Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
