[ARCHIVED] Compost Facility offers free loading of select materials

Due to an increase in green waste being received at the City of Hot Springs Compost Facility, there is a surplus of select materials available to customers. Effective immediately, the loading fee is being temporarily waived for wood grinding and “oversize” materials. While supplies last, this offer is for an unlimited amount of these materials.

Traditionally, the loading fees start at $10 per yard for the first four yards, increasing to $15 per yard for five or more yards. This offer does not apply to compost and leaf mulch; the loading fees for these materials still apply.

Wood grindings are the raw wood pieces produced from grinded trees, which normally contains larger pieces of wood and is generally blonde in color. It can be used as ground cover to prevent weed growth and to hold moisture.

“Oversize” refers to the larger materials left over from the compost screening process. It contains smaller pieces of wood mixed with some remaining compost, and can be used as a cover material or can be mixed with soil for planting purposes.

For more information, call the City of Hot Springs Compost Facility at 501-262-3572. Loading is available Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
