Cancelled Memorial Day Event for Garland County Veteran’s Memorial
HOT SPRINGS - The Garland County Veteran’s Memorial Day Ceremony will not take place this year due to Arkansas Department of Health directives and guidelines during the pandemic. Instead, the Garland County Veteran’s Memorial Committee (GCVMC) is asking all our citizens to observe a moment of silence at noon on Memorial Day, May 25, to remember all veterans living and deceased.
Another way to commemorate our veterans is to donate a brick or paver for a veteran’s service to our country. These honorary bricks and pavers will be placed in the Veteran’s Memorial Walkway to recognize the names of the veterans honored through donations to the memorial.
Our memorial assures that our veterans are recognized, honored and thanked for the services and sacrifices they made for us and our county.
All names of 2020 bricks and pavers honoring veterans will be read during the Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, at the Veteran’s Memorial, 118 Orange Street (next to the Farmer’s & Artisan’s Market).
