The Hot Springs Sister City youth art competition have announced the 2020 winners -- Ann Grigsby, of Lakeside High School, and Rina Hatayam, of Seinan Junior High in Hanamaki, Japan. As this competition is a pre-qualifier for the 2020 Sister City International competition, their winning pieces will be entered in the global competition.

The 2020 Sister City International youth art competition theme is “One World: Out of Many, We Are One.” The overall winner will receive $1,000 and will have their winning art displayed at the Sister City International Annual Conference, scheduled for July 8-10, 2020, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“In my life I haven’t been able to travel very far; but each time I venture further from home, I always gain a new memory I’ll never forget,” said Grigsby. “I wanted to feature how travel, the experiences that come with it, and the people you meet can change you. The subject in the picture is a young girl, and the places she has gone are shining onto her. Winning this contest would open many paths to me that were previously impossible. I would be able to get my name out into the art world and possibly begin a career in art.”
