[ARCHIVED] Board acts on two parking recommendations

vehicles on Central Avenue in downtown Hot Springs

The City of Hot Springs Board of Directors adopted two downtown parking recommendations from the Parking Advisory Committee, including enforcement of double-parking restrictions and changing the amount of parking violation fines, at the Board’s regularly-scheduled meeting on February 18, 2020.

The Parking Advisory Committee recommended double parking in the downtown district between 6-11 a.m. be allowed for commercial delivery drivers. The Board resolution enforces that any double parking outside of this proposed time would result in citations issued and enforced by the Hot Springs Police Department.

The Board also lowered the parking violation charge from the state violation amount of $185 to the proposed amount of $25 per ticket, which is in line with other City parking fine amounts.

The Parking Advisory Committee was formed to study, plan and advise the Board and City Manager on matters related to parking management, particularly in forming a longterm strategic vision for the betterment of the Downtown Business District. With that, the Committee has provided an in-depth study of downtown parking to bring forth certain recommendations aimed at improving economic vitality, function and safety.
