On Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 11:20 a.m., the Hot Springs Police Department received a 911 call in reference to shots fired in the
300 block of Chappel Hill Road. Upon arrival, officers located Zachary Burks (30) of Hot Springs, armed with a pistol. During the incident, a Hot Springs Police Officer fired his weapon and struck Burks. Burks was transported to a local hospital and was treated and released for his injuries.
Zachary Ray Burks has been charged with Aggravated Assault (D Felony) and Possession of Firearm by Certain Person (B Felony).
Burks is currently being held in the Garland County Detention Center on a zero bond parole hold.
As per departmental policy, the officer will be placed on administrative leave with pay, pending administrative investigation.
