Representatives with the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) will be presenting possible projects relating to the U.S. Highway 70 expressway at a community meeting being held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, at the Centre at 305 Forest Lakes Blvd.

Presenting will be Mark Headley, ArDOT District 6 engineer for the state, and Travis Brooks, of the ArDOT Transportation and Policy Division. Among the possible projects to be discussed will be those to help traffic flow at the following intersections on the expressway, also known as the Martin Luther King Jr. bypass: Higdon Ferry Road, Central Avenue, Carpenter Dam Road, U.S. Highway 270 West and U.S. Highway 70 West.

The public is invited to attend, and refreshments will be served.

ArDOT, formerly the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, is a government department in the U.S. state of Arkansas. Its mission is to “provide safe and efficient transportation solutions to support Arkansas’ economy and enhance the quality of life for generations to come.” The department is responsible for implementing policy made by the Arkansas State Highway Commission, a board of officials appointed by the governor to direct transportation policy in the state and manage construction and maintenance on Arkansas' highways.  In Hot Springs, the following roadways are a part of the state highway system: Central Avenue, Grand Avenue, Albert Pike Road, Airport Road and the expressway.
