HOT SPRINGS – The results from the latest test sample of water from Hot Springs Creek following the Majestic Hotel fire are within normal, safe parameters, and the city is now delivering an “all clear” for normal recreational use of the creek.
Hot Springs Stormwater Manager Max Sestili reported that the latest sample, taken last Monday, tested as clear as two original control samples that were taken upstream (northwest and northeast) from the location of the fire. A third sample was taken to the south on Friday during the fire. Testing was conducted using the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality’s recommended parameters, which measure total suspended solids (TSS), Ph (acid-alkaline balance), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and grease or oil.
