A total of four Proposed Zoning Open House meetings will be held at Hot Springs Mall on Monday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 14 to answer newly-annexed Area A and Area B property owners’ questions about zoning for their address.
The open-house style meetings will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day in the common area at Hot Springs Mall. Attendees can drop in at a time most convenient for them. They can park on the back side of the mall and enter the door located in between Hibbett Sports and the former Goody’s.
At the time of annexation, per the Hot Springs Code, properties within Areas A and B were temporarily zoned R-1, Rural Residential. The code provides for permanent zoning to be assigned following annexation. In determining final zoning, consideration is given to current use as well as to the city’s adopted Future Land Use Plan Map. The goal is to assure that the zoning supports current and future use to the greatest extent possible. The Planning Commission will consider recommending proposed permanent zoning at its regularly scheduled meeting, to be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 13. The Hot Springs Board of Directors will make the final decision at a public meeting to be scheduled and advertised later this year.
As of Monday, residents can view the proposed zoning online. The city’s homepage at www.cityhs.net will have a link to the maps. For information, call 321-6650.
