To encourage Hot Springs residents and visitors to park the car and “go green,” Hot Springs Intracity Transit will host a Free Ride Day all day on Saturday, April 21 with a special emphasis on enjoying the city’s park system during Earth Day weekend. Buses will run fare-free from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Families are encouraged to plan a trip to Family Park to enjoy a picnic and the fishing pond. A list of approved park items that can be brought onto a bus is posted on IT’s home page at cityhs.net, where information on routes and fares is also available. The Upcycle Sculpture Festival, held at 121 Orange Street in the Transportation Plaza, and the Gumbo and Crawfish Festival, held in Hill Wheatley Plaza, are other events held that day that are accessible by public transit. Paratransit riders can call 321-6625 for advance reservations. For information, call 321-2020.
