Abatement activities on the Lanai Suites portion of the Majestic Hotel complex, located at the intersection of Central, Park and Whittington avenues in downtown Hot Springs, will begin on Monday.
City staff met on Wednesday with the city’s contractor, DT Specialized Services, to review the project schedule and staging plans for the Majestic Hotel project. The work plan calls for the abatement of the Lanai Suites to last approximately three to four weeks, with structure demolition immediately following.
Abatement equipment and dumpsters will be staged within the interior courtyard pool area and along the Cedar Street exterior parking lots. Six-foot-high chain link fencing will be installed along the entire project perimeter at the curb. Concrete barriers and plywood will provide additional screening and pedestrian safety.
“As this is an active worksite with heavy equipment and fibrous material that must be abated, we ask that the public stay out of the fenced area to limit their exposure to dangerous conditions on this site,” cautioned Chief Building Official Mike Scott.
