HOT SPRINGS -- Residents are invited to attend and comment on a proposed amendment to the Community Development Block Grant fiscal years 2011, 2012 and 2013 Annual Action Plans during a City Board of Directors meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4 in the Board Chambers at City Hall, 133 Convention Boulevard.
This amendment will have a direct effect on the CDBG housing rehabilitation program by either decreasing or eliminating the funding available to low-and moderate-income households for major and minor home repairs.
The amendment may provide funds for neighborhood revitalization infrastructure and affordable housing related projects such as sidewalk repairs, city parks and drainage improvements, empty lot development, home-buyer education programs, demolition of condemned buildings and land acquisition for non-profit new affordable home building.
In a recent citizen participation survey, 78% of residents preferred funding neighborhood revitalization projects, 19% preferred housing rehabilitation, and 3% preferred both.
