Interim City Manager Bill Burrough named Glen Barentine today as Interim Airport Director effective February 2. The appointment follows the retirement of George Downie, who served as airport director for 22 years. Barentine has been employed as Airport Operations Manager at Hot Springs Memorial Field since September 2002.
Barentine previously worked for a Fixed Base Operator serving general aviation clients from 1999 to 2002 and served as an electronics technician in the U.S. Air Force for more than ten years.
“I have full confidence in Mr. Barentine’s ability and appreciate his willingness to step into the interim role,” said Burrough “I know that he will perform very well in that capacity.”
Selection of a permanent Airport Director will be made by incoming City Manager David Frasher. The position will be advertised and applications accepted prior to Frasher’s late March start date, with interviews taking place after that time.
