485 active cases in Garland County; state again sets pandemic records

The following statistics for Wednesday, January 5, 2022, were posted on the Arkansas Department of Health’s (ADH) website:

  • 17,127 cumulative cases in Garland County, up 141 from Tuesday.
  • 485 active cases in Garland County, up 113 from Tuesday.
  • 16,210 recoveries in Garland County, up 28 from Tuesday.
  • 430 deaths in Garland County, no change from Tuesday.

Statewide, the number of new cases in the past 24 hours set a pandemic record for the second straight day at 7,436, up from yesterday’s record total of 6,562 new cases. Active cases also reached a new high of 38,154, up from yesterday’s high of 32,280. Hospitalizations rose from yesterday’s total of 775 to 819 today, with 257 COVID patients requiring intensive care and 128 on ventilators.
