Barentine appointed AAOA representative

Airport Director Glen Barentine was appointed Southwest Regional Representative for the Arkansas Airport Operators Association at its annual conference, held October 15-17 in Eureka Springs. Barentine also moderated a conference panel discussion entitled “Airports helping airports” during which fellow airport directors answered questions and shared experiences with other attendees.

Barentine has 28 years of experience in the aviation industry. Hired in 2002 as Hot Springs Memorial Field Airport Operations Manager, he assumed the position of airport director last June. While at HOT, Barentine has worked to help change the image and culture of the Fixed Based Operation (FBO), positioning it as a leader in specialized equipment, professionally trained personnel and outstanding customer service. Barentine also manages leased properties at the airport and is working on a new airport master plan. Since 2009, as president of Airport Operations LLC, he has managed a website dedicated to the assistance of airports with a current membership of more than 1000 airport operators across the nation. Prior to his employment at HOT, Barentine served as assistant general manager of TAC Air in Shreveport, Louisiana and as avionics photo-sensor craftsman with the United States Air Force, where he was deployed around the world repairing avionic equipment and supervising production assignments. Barentine holds an associate degree in management from Park College in Ogden, Utah, an associate degree in avionics electronics from the College of the Air Force on Hill Air Force Base in Utah, and various airport training certifications.
